Recognised by Wallpaper magazine among the world’s Top 25 Houses of 2025 and selected as the March 2026 cover home for Palm Springs Life, the Dreamer Estate represents the most fully realised residential work to date by acclaimed architect Robert Stone. Set at 38850 Kelley Lane in Rancho Mirage, the residence builds upon three decades of Stone’s boundary-pushing desert architecture. His celebrated earlier works, Acido Dorado and Rosa Muerta, received the AIA’s highest honour in 2013, have been exhibited at the Smithsonian and have provided striking backdrops for Saint Laurent, Vogue Italia and Beyoncé. Occupying approximately 3.83 acres, the estate offers 4,029 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms arranged across two independent residences. The main house is conceived in Stone’s distinctive “California Chicano Futurism” style, its sculptural form crowned by traditional pottery tiles finished in four shades of metallic glaze. Mirrored ceilings within the great room draw the San Jacinto Mountains into the interior, while a breeze-block wall filters sunlight and desert views into shifting patterns throughout the day. Every element has been approached as an expression of art and architecture. The bespoke kitchen features silver crocodile-embossed leather cabinetry, while the primary suite is distinguished by a dramatic wall of Kelly green tile. A separate residence, known as Lil Dreamer, includes its own entrance, kitchen and living areas, providing an inspired setting for guests, private staff, an artist’s retreat or a recording studio. Across the grounds, a half Olympic-length swimming pool forms the reflective spine of the estate, complemented by generous spaces designed for intimate relaxation and large-scale entertaining. A dedicated service entrance and valet configuration allow the property to accommodate events of up to 200 guests, while its solar-responsive orientation provides natural warmth in winter and greater protection from the summer heat. Rare in scale, character and architectural significance, the Dreamer Estate offers the opportunity to acquire an important contemporary work by one of California’s most original architectural voices.
